MineLab's Customer Service #1:minelab:

To fulfill a promise, and even if that didn't exist, I just wanted to take the opportunity to tell you folks about my experience with MineLab's customer service team. I recently purchased an Excalibur 1000 and am eager to get out and start detecting with it, however, when I received the unit there were some concerns about marks on the detector. I didn't want it to come up in the future, should I need to utilize the warranty, that they would come back to me and say that I had used tools on the detector voiding the warranty. I contacted MineLab about the concerns and have been in correspondence with Sandra Burton, MineLab's head of Customer Service, and Kevin Hoagland the North American sales rep. for MineLab. I am overwhelmed with the fact that Ms. Burton has gone well above the call and has arranged for me to get a replacement, "new detector", not just sending mine in and having it checked, serviced and the damaged parts replaced. And the shipping is all being absorbed by MineLab.
I have owned a White's XLT for 5 years now and haven't had to use the warranty or have it serviced. I would hope that they would respond in the same manner as MineLab. In these days of corporations skin-flinting on their customer services I am very pleased to tell you that MineLab still holds the customer as number one!! Along with MineLab's long-standing reputation as a manufacturer of high quality metal detectors for a multitude of applications I hafta say that their customer service puts the proverbial icing on the cake. It has confirmed in me the confidence I felt when I considered MineLab as the maker of my detector purchase. Trust me... MineLab is second to none in every aspect, in my humble opinion. I couldn't be happier and wanted to serve notice to you, the public, this... my testimonial!

.... find out the cost and time to fix / replace out of warranty repair machines. Some manufacturers don't advertise it, but will fix their machines "years" out of warranty with no charge to the owner other than a reasonable $15 or so UPS return charge within a week or so. Others have a much longer repair time period and premium cost to repair.

Glad you got a good / great initial experience.

He's a tough one to nail down. of whole milk (in a glass shaped like a cow) in 7 minutes and 13 seconds! {I too am sorry General had too}

Well Garv that may be, but I wouldn't bet on it... Truth be told I wish I had known about this site before now. I read some of the other posts before mine and I like what I read and hope to get to know some of yas a little better. I'm an avid detectorist though I haven't been out much before. First was my job and now a really bad back, two surgeries (so easing up a little Garv would help) and now I've had to take Med. Ret. from my job so it looks like this and prospecting will have to suffice for making good use of my time.
General you'll get no argument from me where White's is concerned and like I said in 5 years I haven't had one bit of trouble from my XLT and am certainly not retiring it!! My mom and step-dad live in Fla. and I wanted a good underwater detector so I bought the Excalibur. I read in one of the books on Fla. beaches that the co-author swears by his Surfmaster. Can't believe anything but that he's telling the truth.
All in all folks I look forward to reading more of your posts :cheers: (except Garv's LOL j/k) and learning more about detecting period. I'd like to get in a couple of hunts (seen them advertised in the Gold Prospector magazine) me and my bullseye have gotten pretty quick. Keep on huntin.:thumbup:
