Minelabs and Malaysia --- not made there-- exactly

I will forward the letter if I can, I have not read it myself yet... I talked to my dealer today. This is what he told me. He said he talked with Minlab Australia. Minelab is having some of their components mfgd. in Malaysia but their machines are not being made there.

When I read the letter I will post more info. If possible I will post the letter itself.

This is a good thing to me from a political and religious point of view.

On a side note I think my new coil was shipped today. The availability of new machines also appears to be in a limited supply for the time being. These must be some of the hottest machines on the market.

That's correct Jeff. Only the circuit boards are made in Malaysia. I talked to my local dealer as well who's shop is a subsidiary of Coden (Which also owns Minelab.

I knew the high end PI SD/GPX gold machines were in very short supply and on backorder. What is it like to try to buy a new 705, Safari, or E-Trac? Is there a short supply from dealers with these machines too, or not?

Due to the price of gold, the "backorder" of gold detectors is tremendous. But if you are looking for "coin / treasure" detectors, my suggestion would be to call around to a few dealers and find out if they have what you want. I called one dealer this morning and they have a supply X-Terra lower rods (which some indicated were not available) and hundreds of detectors in stock. This forum is sponsored by a number of reputable dealers who would appreciate an opportunity to earn your business. Give some of them a call and allow them that opportunity. Asking an open ended question as to whether or not specific detectors are in short supply will only reflect the opinions of individuals, and not necessarily provide an accurate assessment of what could be available. It seems that there are a number of gold rushes on at the moment. It sounds like the one in Sudan is completely off the Richter scale right now. It sounds like a gold rush of similar magnitude to the 1850's gold rushes! It's my understanding that Minelab have significantly increased their production of gold machines, but demand has hopelessly outstripped their effort to try and match it.
