Minelab XTERRA 705 Metal Detector Program Cards

deswiger

Saw some interest in the Minelab XTERRA 705 Metal Detector Program Cards. I just now found them myself on ebay for 15.40 GBP (that's about $19.00 US [roughly]). I have ordered them (01/05/17) and will attempt to let you all know what I think of them. Coming from the UK to OHIO,US who knows how long it will take but I'll do what I can to put this to rest.

Not sure why we would need them over here. All the ids are in the FAQ FAQ at top of page.

As far as I could tell from a google search, the pocket sized manual is weatherproofed (laminated).
A very good ideea for the beginners .... I dunno if anyone can stay in the woods reading the online manual and putting the info in practice:)
A brief review of the manual would be nice deswiger. Good luck !

PS : read the " understanding your xterra" ebook, wrote by Randy Horton. it's free on the interwebz.

By no means am I stupid or even illiterate but at 62 with a very worn out mind and body, I need all the help I can get. I have had my ML 705 for over a year now and I have only been able to get out 3-4 times due to health issues. Believing that I am on the mend, I have been studying up on just how to best make good the time I will get while dirt fishing. I am a novice at this even though I have been interested and piddled around at it for many years. Now that I am unable to work, I want to be able to get out and enjoy the things I like doing.
As I mentioned before, I ordered the "Programs & Settings - set of Pocket Sized Laminated Program & Settings Cards", (Color Coded nonetheless). I got them yesterday, (along with some pretty cool English postmarked stamps) and I must say, I think they will be very helpful in getting me started down this dirty road. The worst thing I see people do in things like hobbies and other new adventures, is get frustrated because they either do not understand what to do or expect things to just fall in place for them. I sometimes wonder how many MILLIONS of dollars worth of equipment and tools are setting in a closet because "it seemed easy at the time". As they say, a good sales-PERSON can sell ice to a polar bear but then what?
There are eleven double sided 3" x 4 1/4" cards, a cover card and a misc. notes card. Near as I can tell they cover everything any novice/beginner will ever need to know (AFTER reading the Instruction Manual {free pdf} and any additional help books you can get). From Trashy Parks and Fairgrounds to Beaches and Ploughed Land, they tell you how to set up Mode, Iron Masking, Noise Cancel, Ground Balance, basically everything you need to get started and actually get on the road to finding real good junk instead of stupid junk (just messin', it's all good). Since they have a copyright of 2015, 2016, I can't show any pictures legally other than the picture that appears on ebay (attached), not sorry, it's just the right thing to do.
Now if you know everything there is to know about everything, then don't bother, this is not for you and would be a waste of money and the time people would use up reading your rants about how this is for stupid people, so please save us all and leave it alone. Of course we are all entitled to an opinion, but must they be so negative? I like these cards and believe they will help me and possibly one or two others out there willing to admit we could use a little help now and then.
Hope this is helpful but if not, enjoy life and don't make others regret meeting you. SemperFi
