Minelab XS Explorer Answer......................... Asked in a PM to me..

First let me say I am sorry I did not send you a PM..But I hit delete by error ..and I could not remember your Forum Name.. Click on Iron mask shortcut buttton You will see numbers at the bottom..on left is adjustment and on right is adjustment buttons..

Iron mask is preset at 6 on the XS............ thats about 30% ... take it to 0 and you have 50% Iron mask.. Visualize a screen..50% Blacked out,On Left. 50% white on the right. Take it to 16 and you have o iron mask the screen will be all white..All targets will respond..No Nulling. The trick is get your iron mask set just right so you get nulling over iron, and a good response over a coin... You will have to hit good target first, and then you will hear it null out.Move really slow and try and seperate the good and bad target.. My experience has been to much iron mask all you get is the null ( DISC'd Out) sound..you will not hear the good targets in holes with the iron.. Bryce Brown says 6 is about right on the XS..my self I like it at about 8..seems to work in my area better. You will have to play with the setting till you get what you hear best, and what works in your soil best.. You will dig some bad targets with the XS..it can't be helped..Some iron targets will give you a nice high Silver tone.......... I know you mentioned "Look at all the Silver they find (Explorer users).Yes they do find a lot..but most do not post all the bad targets they dig ..they work hard for their Silver finds..and dig a lot of trash too. The Explorer has the ability to hear both targets in the same hole..Most detectors blank out on what ever you disc out and blank all thats in the hole, or actually under the coil would be a better term with the iron targets

I just know your going to ask why 0, to 16 numbers running backwards Machine is set up 0 to 32 numerical value 16 is half.. SO Minelab said ok 0 is 50% value..16 moving left is 0 value..I know sounds a little backwards.. PM me back if this doesn't help you a little..and again sorry I hit delete........ Was tired and not paying attention....You would be better off to ask someone with a lot more experience than I have. I have never been very good with an explorer.. I will attempt to answer your questions and do not mind your asking in the least.. I'm just afraid I may give the wrong answer..
