Minelab X70 Sample Target ID Chart............

For you Minelab folks, this TID chart is what I glue to the back of my pinpointer to double check signals. It is just a generic guide of the types of targets you may locate. If you would like to download the chart see:

why would a 38 give a medium tone on the gold coin?

I am not an expert detectorist. That's why I made the chart. To keep me digging up pulltabs and foil because the possibility of nice finds is what keeps me detecting. My chart was developed from other ML owner's original work and selected targets that would be typical USA stuff. It is just generic ID's to keep me digging the holes. I have no experience with gold so am utilizing the good reporting from other ML owners. As to why a target signal is a certain way, I can't tell you. We have to dig it out to see. Happy detecting..........

Some pull tabs in my area read a ID 18 or 20 .On that note when I buried my 14k wedding band to see what the ID numbers show it also shows 18 or 20 so I still dig....Have not found a gold ring yet But someday I hope a ring comes out of that hole instead of a beaver tall pull tab!

Where does Brass and Lead show on what particular numbers on that chart? How about what number on an Aluminum soda-soft drink can?

Also do you all have success discriminating(knocking) out new Pennies and only digging the older ones with the X-70?

Thank you in advance.

I'd also like to know about lead if possible and brass would be nice to know as well. I think lead registers high like dime or quarter or silver half. I think it also depends upon the size of the lead lump which will greatly increase it's reading up the scale but I am not sure hence my post. . Some relic and bullet hunters will know here and hopefully they will chime in,,,, Thanks if so

You can purchase some various sized "bullet" sliding sinkers and usually a brass rifle casing if you want to help build you own test bed of different known materials at different depths. It's great for training purposes and a refresher course.
