hi this goldfinderman trying to deside should i get a new mine lab x terra 70 or buy a used one in good cond i have been reading this form others i think i like detector better than fisher f 75 or f 70 i have prizm 3 detector pretty good but i always wanted a minelab x terra 70 my chance to get is now thanks for your info from goldfinderman

I was looking at the exact same models that you mentioned. I decided on the X-Terra 70 and it was a great choice. The unit is lightweight, pin points easily and has lots of great features. After looking at some of the prices on here for a used unit, I decided to buy a new one. The dealer was running a double warranty sale and a "bongo" sale. I picked out a second detector for $50. I loaned that unit out to friend yesterday when we were hunting and he loved it.
Best of luck picking out your new detector.

Ther are some great deals here check them out .you can save some money and get a fue extras at the same time

Since ML does not have a transferable warranty then buy a new one. 4 year warranty is worth the extra $150 - $200 Unless you can buy a ML at half price?

All detectors purchased from any dealer have a 3 year warranty (except for the Excalibur II) . . . . there are no extended warranties available on these units

The origninal warranty, regardless of the length, only applies to the original owner.

Note: This warranty is not transferable, nor is it valid unless the enclosed
warranty registration card is returned to Minelab Electronics Pty Ltd or an
authorised Minelab Electronics Pty Ltd regional distributor within 14 days
of the original purchase.
The Minelab warranty does not cover damage caused by accident,
misuse, neglect, alteration, modifications, or unauthorised service. For
specific details of the Minelab warranty, please refer to the

I had the same dilema and to me the warranty was worth having......."just in case" you never know what might happen

I am glad I bought a new one. At about 6 months old I had to sen mine in. The warranty covered the repair. It will make you sleep a bit easier at nights, Beale.

I'm not sure where khouse got the warranty information. The Minelab website still state theat the X-Terra 70 has a 2 year warranty. I purchase my unit last week on 3/9 from a dealer. They gave me a ESP card that states I have an additional 2 year warranty that begins when the full Minelab factory warranty expires, 2 years from the date of purchase. My dealer told me I have a 4 year warranty. And based on the items I received with my detector, that seems to be the case. I used the unit this past weekend and I loved it.

Randy...does this mean that a X-Terra-70 purchased after 3/1/09 is covered by a three year warrenty. And those purchased before this date only have a two yr warrenty. Thanks TomB

According to Andy S post below, and information from Minelab's website (that I posted below), X-Terras purchased after 3/1/09 will have a three year, non-transferrable warranty. Those purchased prior to 3/1/09 would typically have come with a two-year non-transferrable warranty. However, there has been the occassion that Minelab offered the original two years, plus an extended two-years (for a total of four years). Since those extended warranties were usually for a holiday special, they came with "offer good through" dates. Now that those dates have expired, if you were buy a new X-Terra from dealer stock, it should have three full years of warranty as standard. JMHO HH Randy
