Minelab we have a problem,

BJ in Okla.

Early this morning at 4 am, my X-Terra 50 turned its self on. The coil was on the floor, so it went into the over load sound. So now I know for sure there is a problem, all the times before with my 30 & 50 were real and not me. Before I thought well maybe I turned it on when I pluged in my head phones. I wonder if this will quit. Has anyone talked to Minelab about this problem ??..BJ

Hi BJ, yes I called Minelab about this problem and to my surprise they didn't seem to know about it. But they know now so the ball is in their court. CU later BJ and God Bless.

Just curious BJ, were your headphones plugged in at the time?
I have had similar problems with my XTerra 30. I believe it has to do with the internal wiring and proximity to the headphone jack. If the jack is slightly long, it messes with the wiring inside. I have run my machine with headphones and without. No problems when nothing is plugged in.
I am going to try placing a thin rubber washer over the jack to decrease the depth it is plugged in and see if that helps.
I have never had my machine turn itself on though, only off.

I did not have the head phones plugged in, the 50 was leaning on the wall. I have the 30 & 50 and they have both done it. I thought it had to do with the head phones also, but now I know not so. There was a TV going about 3' a way, but the 50 has been there before and never turned its self on before. BJ

How do you know it was at that time and not earlier.?

Perhaps you have a playful visitor from the other side.????

My Dog woke me up just before, she wanted to go outside, so I looked at the clock, it was 4 am, and then the X-50 went off, I guess it wanted to go outside to...HH..BJ

Hello !

My X-Terra 50 "works" the other way around. While "working" he sometimes switches himself... OFF ! I think the "door" of the battery-compartment isn't shutting close enough... There should be some more "pressure" on the batteries.

At least, that is what I (!) think. I should try to pull the little iron a bit, on that "door", maybe.

Turned itself off, thought it was the batteries, but they were fine. Hasn't happened anymore. I have worn out the first set of batteries, kept giving me a bell tone every few seconds, looked at the battery icon and it was blank. John

My first one turned itself on 3 or 4 times, sent in in and Minelab replaced it, it had a couple of different issues. My new one turned itself on as well. It may be a wide spead issue with the machine internally.

Also my X-50, it does not show SENS, but I know the which one the sens is. I am having to much fun with my 30 & 50 to send them in right now. My 50 has done this more than the 30 has. I am not worried,I can still use them and I know Minelab will take care of us.<BR> HH..BJ
