Both are very close in Performance, I would almost bet the older is better..One thing from testing several together, the big factor..is get a better set of headphones...Not the GG, But GoldMasters, or the 3m %eltors...understand from those around here that have both think the Excalibur 2 is the better detector too

I was under the impression the 800's and 1000's could use the NiMH batteries as well? I hope so, because I purchased a NiMH pack to rebuid on of my NiCad pods
