I have just read a post by Scully on another forum that Minelab has sold it's company!
He has also posted a link to the announcement there. Wow....

I don't know if it will or not, but time will tell as maybe it will be run the same as it has been as it has been a proven winner. Then again we could see some changes for the good or bad. I am hoping for the good and hope the Sovereign will still be made.

Hey guys, how about buying { AMERICAN MADE MACHINES } Oh, I forgot, they are the deeper beepers.

I don't believe the acquisition of Minelab by Codan will have any real significant affect on the current line one way or the other but who knows. Maybe Codan being a Hi-Tech based firm will have something new and innovative to bring to the table that will set a new standard in the world of metal detecting. As was said though, only time will tell. I will hope for the best.

Not to start any kind of argument, and I own 7 American made machines, but none of them have the multiple tones that the Minelab has that I really have come to enjoy using. I sold my last American made water detector as it did not have the depth of my Irish made machine. I wish our American made machines would make a good copy of what my Minelab's can do. Maybe the new CZ 21 will do that, I sure hope so.

The Cz20 I had didn't hit or ID gold rings as well as the Sovereign. With the Company changing ownership I wouldn't be surprised to see the price on used Minelabs going up.

Minelab is a young company and maybe they need a new owner to go to the next level. Dan

Codan makes circuit boards for Minelab, and Minelab makes parts for Codan. So the puschase makes a lot of sense.

In order to take something to the next level, a new company may be needed to take it and run with it. We`are basically dealing with the same Excal for how many years? Maybe now we'll get straight shafts, and headphones that will make it a hotrod right out of the box.
