Minelab Repair, Kellyco

I know some of you metal detecting guys and gals watch whats on here. I took a trip and happened to stop at Kellyco to see the place. I was greeted at the door by Gene of the sales staff, what a great guy,, he pulled out the new Minelab SDC and let me play with it,,, what a neat machine. I had told him I had 3 excals and one was a sick puppy,, it had been back to Minelab 3 times and they could not seem to fix it. He said go get it and I brought it in from the truck and he had the head of the service center come out and take a look. This was Monday morning,, I left it there and on Thursday morning I stopped by to pick it up and it was repaired properly and I was on my way. So if any of you have a Minelab Detector that is not in warranty I suggest that you call Kellyco and send it in. I can only talk highly of them and the courtesy and service that i received. how about 3 days on the repair that Minelab service center could not get right. Thank you kellyco.
It ended up being a bad senstivity pot, a hundred buck repair, the real service center told me to trash it and purchase a new detector, it woul need a 650.00 motherboard and thats after they put a 350.00 coil on it the first time it was sent in,,, now i bet it never needed that coil to start with.

Congrats on getting your machine fixed finally!

I know some people like to bash the biggest, but Kellyco has always treated me exceptionally well.

Dave and Berry are really nice guys. Everyone knows my fondness with customer serivice at ML. Dont get me wrong.... John at ML does great work too, just a lot of machines besides the Xcal going up there. Living here in Fl.... i get my equipment back FAST..... i mean a few days fast because shipping is a day. It will take them a little time... much like a young machanic to have seen it all and know exactly what the problem is but most of the guys i know here in FL have been quite happy with their work.

I have bought several detectors from them over the years,my first transaction in 1975.The whole staff has been first rate to deal with.

My brother and I dealt with Kellyco for many years, (JW). I can honestly say we never had any of the problems some people talk about. Used to get some nice discounts from them years past but, anymore management has pretty much put the clamps on the staff.

I had a bad experience with one of the sales staff. He made me feel like I was an Idiot in the way that he talked to me. Of course one I spent 13 years working sales and I know what one bad salesperson can do for a companies reputation. It definitely was NOT JW as he has always been very helpful.

I have made some purchases from Kellyco but I will never purchase anything from that Sales Person.

It is good to know that they do good repair work in case I ever need to have an out of warranty machine repaired.

I had Barry work on my Excalibur and had no problems with him or my Excal. I like the guy ! and his Secretary is a sweetie too!

Just got around to seeing this and all the comments. Barry and Dave are always extremely knowledgable and the detectors they see in and out daily are almost always nostalgia feeling, not for me...I have not been in the hobby THAT long, but we just had a 40 year old Garrett come by up here for Barry to just replace a wire for the battery connection real quick. It was very small and a little more unique looking than the normal Garrett's. They have great feedback everywhere I read and if you find that you have to call them, they will be glad to help always. Very passionate guys in the hobby and they, even behind curtains, really enjoy their work. Don't think I have ever seen them come in and have that syndrome of "I don't want to be here today" attitude. Glad they fixed the problem really quick for you Norm and hope you have a happy and lucky hunt with the fixed machine.

I have been treated extremely well the two times I sent my Excal 2 to their techs this year. Barry is a really knowledgeable and friendly guy. His brother Dave does the pinpoint mod outside the facility on his own. First I had the GGA's wired to replace the stock phone that had quit in one ear, remote pinpoint mod and to hardware my 12x10" SEF. After a couple of hunts wading in the ocean I found I didn't like the SEF because I was getting so much falsing with it submerged in salt water regardless of sens the sens setting....even in auto or set way down to 1! The trip back to put the stock 10" coil on was a fairly quick turnaround. They did go beyond what I asked to take care of something else I was not aware of and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend Barry and his brother Dave.

I had heard about the Minelab repair facility in Orlando. Not finding the repair shop address located on WEB I called Kellyco and spoke to a person who I'll leave unnamed. Instead of hearing all I had to inquire about he said, "I suggest that you call Minelab repair."
I called the repair facility in Chicago. Two persons there stated that they were unaware of any Minelab repair site in Florida.
I have 4 Minelab detectors and over the years when I've sent some off for repair in the past to either Nevada or Chicago it was like putting coins into a moody vending machine. Sometimes it worked out and sometimes it didn't.
Does anybody have the repair facility phone number in Florida?

Thanks!

They don't have a direct line, you call Kellyco and ask for Barry in their Minelab Repair center. # 888 535-5926 or if local call 407 599-8700..

I would say it was wired wrong if it acted like that, I came across a few this past winter that had the Gray and Black wires reversed and acted just like that when in saltwater.Once reversed, much better.

The repair center is here at Kellyco in Winter Springs. If the machine is under warranty, we do not do the work on the machines. We can not touch them unless they are outside of warranty since we are not the manufacturer. If that was the case, then that would be why the person you talked to suggested to give Minelab a call. There is no direct phone number, you will simply have to call in and ask for Barry. Again, this is for machines outside of Warranty before we can work on them unless you want to break your warranty. Most machines are 3 years, Excalibur is 1 year however.
