Is this a good detector? It will be my first detector and a guy is selling one.... It is the musketeer advantage and only used once... Good or not?

You might try posting this on the soveriegn forum if you don't get many responses here.
I have seen a few posts on this detector and there are usually many replies.
I have one and like it very much and have found many nice things with it.
It does have a very good reputation as a deep machine and likes silver coins.

It is an awesome detector!! However just beep and dig, BUT, I used one for several years and found that in my moderately mineralized soil that I could run fixed ground balance and fairly high discrimination and still retain good depth. I recall digging IH pennies at 8 -9". and that was with discriminator turned up to eliminate nails. Very easy to set up, simply turn on w/sensitivity almost full, both toggles down, and discrimination knob at about the 2:30 position and go. Iron will grunt and silver coins hit hard. Not to sound like I am bragging but in 2005 it was my only detector and here is a list from my computer of my better finds. And this was just some week ends.

1 CENT INDIAN 57
1 CENT WHEAT 20 (These were all in the teens)
2 CENT 1
5 CENT SHIELD 3
5 CENT LIBERTY 4
10 CENT SEATED 5
10 CENT BARBER 20
10 CENT MERCURY 13
10 CENT ROOSEVELT 12
25 CENT SEATED 0
25 CENT BARBER 2
25 CENT STANDING 1
25 CENT WASHINGTON 2
50 CENT SEATED 1
50 CENT BARBER 0
50 CENT WALKER 1
50 CENT FRANKLIN 0
$1 MORGAN 1
I would recommend it to anyone, especially for you first detector it was highly under rated.
If you have any question shoot me a email.

From what I have read it is only the early models that cannot be repaired. The current model the Minelab Musketeer Advantage is guaranteed and repairable. Parts are available.

Best Regards,
Steve

At this time it is still being made but may be discontinued shortly. Should be plenty of parts for it.

I don't see a Musketeer Advantage on that list.

i bought the old mine lab musketeer and i don't regret buying it ,now i did see a super tune page by Keith southern on adjusting the pots for better depth and sensitivity has anyone tried this mod because of right now this detector the musketeer is not that great at doing air tests in fact horrible so since i have it I'm going to try and super tune however my question is why will it not do a great job on air tests i mean 2-4 inches on a penny is horrible. any feedback would be appreciative I'm not going to get rid of this guy .i mean i just bought true i should done more tests but also i drove aways away to get this guy i wasn't going to leave empty handed.so since taking this guy apart dusting it up the connections to the speaker popped off can you glue this back on or should i get a new speaker i think i just answered my own question. cubs army 73 out here

The Musky was always a good starting machine and some folks stuck with it, despite Minelabs other more modern machines coming out many years ago. Jerry.

You need to tell us exactly what Musketeer version you have.
Google my website treasurelinx minelab

You may have a bad coil, not tuned correctly or some one already has fooled with the internal settings.
