Minelab is the BEST!

For you newbies out there (like myself) who doubt the Minelab goes deep, here's the remains of a porcelain jar lid I dug at a full 15".

The zinc lid sort of disentigrated as I extracted it from the hole. My heart skipped a beat as I realized what I had and that it might be the jar lid of a cache of coins. Alas, there was nothing else. However, the signal on the Minelab was LOUD and CLEAR at 15"! This was using the stock coil at sensitivity 24. I was also running in iron mask -16 using ferrous tones. This was in a "hunted out" park that I'm pretty sure hasn't met the Minelab yet

WAIT TIL YOU END UP LAYING ON YOUR SIDE, WITH YOUR ARM STRECHED INTO THE HOLE AS FAR AS IT WILL GO, AND YOU STILL NEED A FEW MORE INCHES ! IT HAPPENS. LUCKELY, MOST OF THE TIMES IT HAPPEND TO ME, WHEN I FINALLY REACHED THE FINDS, { IN MUD, IN A DRAINED LAKE } THEY TURNED OUT TO BE CONE TOP BEER CANS,FROM THE 30's & 40's, IN GOOD ENOUGH CONDITION, TO SAVE AND TURN INTO EXTRA CASH EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. I was beach hunting in Ocean City N.J. I am using an Explorer XS and was continually digging up coins at 12 to 15 inches. Some time ago, I purchased the heavy duty, $165 staninless steel beach scoop, and even though I thought it was a lot to pay for a digger, I find that it would be VERY difficult, if not impossible to do without it, due to the exceptional depth of the explorer--especially when you are digging where the shallow waves are coming at you! I have used both White's and Garrett and I can tell you, it is extremely rare to find a coin at the depths common to the explorer!

Yesterday I dug another metal knife handle at 13". Geez, I need a better shovel So far, I've found 14 of these blasted knife handles in this heavily-hunted, small park. I'm just starting to dig the really deep stuff, so I'll let you know what I find and at what depth.
