Minelab GP 3500 or Minelab Explorer 2

im leaning towards purchasing either the Minelab GP 3500 or the Minelab Explorer 2. I want to use the detector for locating gold as well as relics and coins etc.. I understand these are some of the top metal detectors on the market. I also want one that goes deep into the ground. Is the GP 3500 better for finding gold than the Explorer 2 and wich detector is better for finding relics and also which one will go deeper in the groung? If there is someone that has experience with either one can you please give me your opinion on the overall best one so that I know what im dealing with hear before I purchase one. Thank you very much.

With the GP 3500 you have the best Gold Nugget detector money can buy, and if you don't mind digging everything it will work for relics, jewelry, and coins too. The GP 3500 also is a great beach detector as long as you do not get it wet.

Your best bet if you can afford it is to get both the GP and the Explorer II.

hi JW, you mentioned that the Minelab is good to use on the beach but dont get it wet, does this mean also the coil cannot get wet? I would like a detector where I can submerse the coil in water. thanks

The GP and SD coils are not waterproof, but the Explorer and Sov/Excal coils are waterproof. And if you want to go into the water get an Excalibur 1000 so you can get deep enough to find the many targets lost while swimming.
