Finally, a day in the upper 30's, no snow now in SWMO. Went to the ol' reliable camp where the pickin's are slim. Managed to get a big .69 3 ringer and some other lead. The .22 bullets were DEEP, 8-9 inches!! Man, that 18.75 DD 10.5" really is sensitive!!!! Anyways, more snow on the way this week, so I got my relic fix for awhile!!

Good to see someone is able to get out and make some recoveries. Just a State north of you, we've still got that first blast of snow on the ground that we got before Christmas. Plus what seems like a dozen more since then. I suppose one good thing is the amount of moisture that will soak in, once the temps warm up. Again, nice finds. HH Randy

That .69 cal. 3 ringer is a really nice find. Your getting almost twice the depth I do on those .22 bullets with the same coil. Think it may be time for an up-grade...

Don't upgrade, listen to your detector closer!!! I dig every little high tone using All Metal, 2 Tones, Sens @ 28, Auto-Trac & Noise Cancel to the site. I got alot of readings at +6 to +10, foil range that I dug. Sometimes the target was a piece of lead that was SMALLER than a .22 bullet. I could see why the 18.75 would be good for Gold. Alot of my good deep finds come from signals bouncing. If it bounces from +6 to 20, I know it is a small item, + 20 to +44 is a deep bullet or button size target. It all boils down to just digging EVERY high tone that repeats swinging 2 ways under the coil............

morelic55, good hunt and thanks for telling your settings and how you hunt relics. I told you this before maybe try Prospecting Mode(for even more depth) and experiment with the IM(Iron Mask) setting all the way to 20. You could set IM just enough to allow it to still detect .22 bullets or 3 ringers or whatever is your minimum target you want to keep and knock out everything below that. Of course in Tracking(Auto-Trac) and a high Sens setting. Yes no TID but worth an experiment with IM and also depth. I am also going to experiment with this when the snow melts.

Mtnmn, I also have a round 10.5" HF DD but I just recently got it and never had the chance to try it with snow on the ground. I am going to use it with my X-70. What detector do you now use with that coil that you are thinking of upgrading from to the 705??

Randy(Digger) estimated the 705 gets about 10% more depth than the X-70 in C & T Mode I think it was. Also the round 10.5" HF DD gets about 40% more depth than the 5x10" HF DD, I do not know on what sized targets, probably on coin sized. But the opposite results would occure where the 5x10" HF DD will be deeper than the round 10.5" HF DD on about 1/8" sized targets.

Also the round 10.5" HF DD is not recommended for gold prospecting by Minelab for that exact reason, it is not as deep on very small--very tiny about 1/16"-1/8" sized gold as the 5x10" HF DD. On bigger sized gold the round 10.5" HF DD would win. I am going to have a tough time deciding what coil to choose and use for gold nugget and specimen prospecting, between the round 10.5" HF DD and 5x10" HF DD??

Nice diggins Mo --- still have tons of snow up North and suppose to get another couple of inches tonight.................ugh!
