1st off it really has a concentric coil -- will this handle minerals , 2nd i find no mention of a ground balance or is it auto anyone else thinking this over ? looks good on price and weight tho.

I hear its auto ground tracking, even works in wet salt sand. Guess we'll see soon though. I'm gonna get a 60 to keep in my truck. For the price I think it'll be worth it to have one as a loaner or scouting machine. Looks like it folds up pretty small and only weights 2 lbs. HH

I will take the old "Wait and See". I have seen far too many new items hit the market that turned out to be duds due to manufacturer not thoroughly testing their product before releasing it to the public. Can any one say "EDSEL"?

If it holds up well to heat inside the vehicle, I would love to get a 60 to keep in the truck.

Wow George !.....Minelab ARE the industry Benchmark, for testing their products....We're talking MILITARY standards here.....Matt

Matt

I have seen many Very Good Manufacturers put out items that wound up being recalled. Browning Arms company which is the manufacturer of some Very High Quality Firearms introduced a Semi-Automatic Shotgun that was supposed to fire all shells from 2 3/4 inch up to and including 3 1/2 inch without the shooter having to make any adjustments.

Six Months after a Dove Shoot in Ga where Large Company Sporting Goods buyers were issued The new shotgun Browning finally got the gun to fire and reload on most 2 3/4 inch shells.

Minelab May test thoroughly but I for One do not know how well they test. I do not know what kind of conditions they may use to test. How close to real life in the field use etc.

Therefore I do not rush out and put down my hard earned Cash on a new product until I have seen that it meets the manufacturers claims. Doesn't matter to me who the manufacturer may be.

Hi KAOLIN.....(Mum used 'kaolin' poultices on us when we were kids !)

Back to subject matter......re-your observations and new Minelab ....I haven't seen one yet myself, but am technically familiar with Minelab philosophies.

If search-head is CONCENTRIC...good...more depth than DD....Also avoids little mentioned DD drawback of 'signal inversion' as you sweep across target !

Ground Balance and Minerals.....Minelab circuitry / methodology, takes care of that DYNAMICALLY, in an non conventional manner. (Analogue).

If I am correct in my assumptions, then disciplined sweep-speed may be the order-of-the-day.

I'm looking forward to hearing the earliest reports.....Any feedback on pricing?.......Matt

Thank you for your reply George, and reasonable observations, but I can only speak as a professional engineer in electronic; related to many industrial
disciplines,

I took the 13,000 mile trip to visit them in Australia, and meet all the staff in their working roles/environment.

Have faith, for they are big enough to handle any problems,

Mistakes there always will be; Space probes fail...and they surely did their best !

Keep us in touch, with your welcomed posts........Matt
