minelab fsb slimline coil views?

Hello.

I have just bought an explorer 2 with a slimline coil, i believe these are off the "se" model, does this coil perform as well as the standard ex2 coil?

Just with it looking quite thin and light i thought maybe it might not be as good.

Thanks Gaz

Most people will agree the slim line isnt the quality of those that came standard on the Exp II. In fact some believe the first batch may of had problem to boot. They used to get top dollar for them over the slim line. That all changed when the Pro and SEF hit the market. I assume it says FBS Slimeline on it? Is it an early serial number? Personally mine works great... but the SEF is just a better coil in trash even thou its a larger coil. The bad thing about having bought the SE was it came with the slimline and i had to buy the second coil.... which means the only benefit to me is i use it as backup. That cost me money.... and of course i wasnt told they were about to come out with the pro coil. My luck lol. Dont get me wrong they arent trash coils and are pretty sturdy. Because the pro came out so soon after there werent a lot of problems that people posted partially because we stopped using them. You also didnt mention if this was your first Explorer. Which means you might not know what one should sound like. I think unless someone advertises they have an Explorer II that doesnt have the standard coil ... then they are trying to sneak one over on you. Thats just not right.

Hi

Thanks for the answer, yes this is my first explorer,it actually came with a fsb1050 coil, but it was faulty so i took it back and got it replaced off the seller, and i myself requested the slim one as it looked a bit lighter and he said it was fine to take it.
How can i tell if its any good or maybe its a bad one?
Serial 41387 dont know if its old or not myself.

I have also ordered as a spare an original explorer coil, the creamy coloured one, thats sould be here tomorrow, whats that like?

Regards Gary

if slim works ok its like original 1050 or 1000, because inside resin the same coil. slim coil is not lighter if you use 1050 without coil cower. compare both coils and use one what you like, you will have allot to learn to understand this SIMPLE mashinen. 1000 or 1050 is best explorer coils, if they are right one. good luck
