I sent a follow up e-mail to the good folks at Minelab explaining that I had already sent them an e-mail with customer feedback 2 weeks prior and that I found it unacceptable as a customer that they had not responded to at least verify receipt of my e-mail.
Nenad Lonic of Minelab Australia did respond and politely apologized for not getting back to me sooner and explained that they are short staffed in customer service at the moment. Nenad acknowledged the issues I had raised in my e-mail as valid but went on to explain that Minelab was concentrating on the lower end of the market with their X-terra series as this is where they percieve the market to be. Nenad went on to state that the underwater market was very small and the sales of the Excalibur quite low, so other models were to take precedence over this model. Nenad agreed that the Excalibur could use some updating and stated that the knob issue had been addressed but in the meantime we as underwater detectorists would have to rely upon aftermarket suppliers to address the issues stated in my e-mail.
So in short, be happy with what you have Excal users cause that's all you're going to get.
The law of economics proves to be right again, economically speaking Excal users just aren't on the map as far as Minelab is concerned. Time to look into getting some aftermarket repairs for my Excal's deficiencies. I need a straight shaft, new waterproof headphones, battery packs and a replacement bolt for my coil.
That's the Facts,
BDA
PS I still really like my Excal, that's what started this whole discussion in the first place. Somebody will come along with something better, until then I'll patch up my Excal and keep finding gold.
