MINELAB FBS COIL CABLE ?

Hello all metal detecting enthusiast,want to make longer minelab coil cable, but can't find FBS coil cable. need any info. thanks Stasys

Hi Stasys,
I believe that you can use micropfone cable as long at it has the same number of pins and holes. I have seen it used on some other mods.

I don't really know if you can use mic cable. I know that the coil is actually like an "antenna" in a transmitter type circuit (like a transceiver....CB radio/Ham radio). And those require that the coax (like this cable you are needing to replace-repair) needs to be the proper impedance or you will get standing waves on the line.....part of this line will start transmitting and that is a bad thing because it is like putting knots in a water hose.......and can blow finals or matching circuits in your coil configuration. That's why the original wire has different diameters between each center dialect of the 2 separate individual conductor pairs. Otherwise they wouldn't go through all the trouble to make em different.....they would just tool them the same. Not going to do more than they have to right

I have heard the cable is proprietory and you can not get it. It is made special for Minelab. But as with anything......if it is worth a speck-o-gold, someone will find a way to sell it!

Hello all again , sadly I was not able to get like original FBS cable, but I solve this problem by using two coax cables-look photos. works wonderful! no complain! did on my XS which i carry on my chest with pear of 2 meters cables. one minus, its more heavy than original and forget about to put it in the original shaft, but if you carry your explorer in the bag its ok!
