I will have my new Minelab Explorer in a week is there any thing i need to no to get off on the right foot with the new Explorer

Richard:
I have had my explorer for 3 weeks, and I am learning that patients, persistance, the manual, and this place sure helps.
Thanks,
Cliff

Be sure to read the manual thoroughly, spend lots of time air-testing to get used to the signals and target ID's, and when you get out hunting, take it slow and easy..... pay attention to each signal before you dig it..... try to learn something with each target you dig good or bad. And keep checking in with this forum and the FBS forum to ask questions or learn from others. Good luck!, Mike.

No doubt, Richard, the Explorer has a long learning curve. My experience is the more you use it the more confidence you will have in it. I've had mine a month now and every time I go out I learn more and get better with it. Reading the manual is definitely going to help you, but actual "hands on" is whats really going to help you learn. You will probably dig alot of junk at first (heck, I always dig tons of junk) but you will soon learn what a good target sounds like and not. Good luck and have patience.

Take your time when ya get it. I was expecting to go out the first day and find seated coins on every beep. Well, it just didn't work that way! I have had my explorer out about 12 times and am really confident with it now. I know that if I go over a coin within the 5-7 inch range its mine!! I will learn how to get the deeper stuff soon I believe. Just take the time to learn the tones of a good target. And get out and dig. These two things will equal confidence. It has for me anyway. See Ya, Jim

This is a `must have`book if you have an explorer. It clears up the info in the manual and gives plenty of `tips`.Learning this machine is a `slow`procedure,so take your time itll pay off in the end.Im happy I kept mine.I wanted to give it back after 2 weeks!Ralph

andys book is a must have and i mean MUST. read it about 25 times along with the manual, the winters are damn long in wisc. but you know the old saying PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT;;;; this is a pretty compilicated unit heck i havent even bothersed with the advanced mode yet or any of the advanced features so PATIENCE is the key here
