hi guys i can buy a Minelab explorer xs for $250.00 locally it comes with the stock coil is that a good deal, i was thinking about buying a safari but moneys kind tight, would the older explorer do ok and how does it compare to the safari or the newer explorers. i mainly hunt parks schoolyards and the ocean beaches . currently use a t2se and its a great machine but i dont get very good depth on coins with it. we have very minerilized soil here in northern california thanks hh

I would buy it as a backup to my 12 year old XS at that price. XS is still a great machine. The other day I remembered I buried a ten inch silver dime in my backyard 5 years ago to test my 15 inch coil and wanted that dime back. I didn't know exactly where it was but I found it immediately.

XS explorer is better when Safari and the same like the rest explorers, just have to learn it. price good

That is a good price for an XS if it is in good working condition. However, Minelab no longer repairs that model so you may want to take that into consideration when making your decision.

Pretty sure the xs keeps up with the new guys.. that a fair price , cuz if it would crap out , you won't be out too much money.. and you can't get it fixed anymore .. I wouldn't spend over 300.. they are getting to be an older machine , and had a history of breaking even when they were rather new..
