Minelab Excalibur headphones

Waterdog

Well-known member
I have an old blue Excalibur 800 with the Blue headphones. The outside rubber around the wires inside became brittle and is cracking off. So I ordered a pair of yellow headphones off Flea Bay and put them on. Went out hunting the other day and they just don't seem the same as the old blue headphones. I wanted to see what you guys thought about Gray Ghost Amphibians or can I have the Old blue headphones fixed ?
I called Kellyco service department to have Gray Ghost Amphibians put on and they are a month out to get it fixed and have it returned.

I can tell you right now nothing out there can match the Sword model head phones (they were black, aqua, and red colors, then next would be the old blues, signature series a very respectable audio. Then yellows which are very lacking, the GGA's are as close as your going to get as far as audio to the blues, then the comfort of them surpasses all.

U might consider getting a headphone extension cable and just reduing the blues.

I asked a friend if he could fix the headphone and he told me that they could not be fixed. :veryangry:

Unless the speakers/pizzos are bad....... its just wire and solder. What i noticed thou was the GGA can very in audio.

Send those babies to me I'll fix them, No charge other then for parts and shipping back. Can you pull a endcap? Cause just send the headphones and I have a extra endcap I'll put on them so it will be a easy install.

Here is what your looking at from what I see you described. A coiled cable, and misc supplies. Maybe 20.oo and 10 shipping back. The Piezos run 3.oo each if they need replaced.. I've yet to see a set of headphones that cannot be fixed, unless they were ran over by a truck... Let me know.......Joe Beechnut / Joe Preast

I'd have to wonder about the expertise of someone who says headphones cannot be fixed. I can understand saying this cannot be fixed without... or this needs more than I can fix... or this is not worth the trouble to fix, but what cannot be fixed????

PS Joe is the man! He can fix it for sure! I have a pair of GGs on my Excal from him.

Pasttom. send to repair headphones to OldBeechnut.
he is an old pirate, knows a lot about electronics and wires ...
it is desirable to install the connector in the plug! then you can quickly change the headphones for the repair or to compare different (eg gray ghost)

Waterproof IP68 headphone jack such as http://www.ebay.com/itm/252273870334

That's the setup that I would like to have on mine.

Does anyone sell the end caps already set up with the two-pin connector? I plan to send my Excal. in to Kellyco real soon to have it checked out for a problem, and to have the PP/headphone mods done to it.

Just about finished.. Need to pick up some RTV silicon and do the finishing seal of the wires and Piezo..
