Minelab Excalibur End Caps for the Pod's and Batteries.

Well-known member
Think I had mentioned this before on the end caps on one of the forums, but I've been checking into have a small amount made up for different applications. Just wondering how much of a demand there is for them and if it would be worth the trouble to have some made. I got a ballpark price from a machinist on doing (50) and to be made of Polyethylene HDPE or UHMW Plastic. Very high Tensile & Compressive Strength and has a very low Water Absorption (Saturation)
One Blank (EC) as pictured would be 25 dollars plus about 5 dollars for package n shipping. These are blanks, uses would be for remote pp buttons, battery end-caps, but you would need the part pictured from Ike-lite..and I'm guessing they are still available? May have to call and check before I load the gun.
......After thinking about it I can almost see only one purpose, and that's not for use as a battery end-cap,
because the price after buying the end-cap and say the ikelite is 20.oo after shipping your talking 45.oo...may as well buy a new battery ..and get it all...Anyway...........Thanks for the input...or anyother idea's?........Obn/joe/tim

Hi Joe , well most of the guys thinks its to much money, we all thought it was complete, i think we'll pass on them. Harold

Thanks Harold for checking around.....and staying in contact..I may still get 25 made...for the remote pp mode..I got a few that have contacted me on that.....joe

You can count me in, just curious will they include the O-rings

You have my contact info, just let me know.

I would buy 2 at minimum. I have thought of a few different mods for both the excalibur and other machines using the battery pod, if only there was a way to put strain reliefs (1 or 2) coming out of a blank end cap, instead of the threaded Ikelite battery connector. It seems you have found a solution.

I'd be in for 2 @ $25 each:thumbup:

Thanks guy for the replies...I will put in a order after Thanksgiving for 25..now these are solid..not the battery endcaps............But can be modified with the Ikelite connector. Greg said it would be close to six weeks due to the fact it is a small order, and the machinist saves those jobs for when times are slow...but this sound good on the replies...I was worried about getting stuck with the extras

biglry...thanks for the tip on the sovereign forum a while ago on the double wall shrink tubing..the stuff works great and I have passed along the info to a few....

Megadiver if I remember you have a NY excal..maybe I'm wrong but I don't think these will fit..I'll have to measure it...they will fit all blue and the new excalibur II's

thanks again for the replies.....joe/tim

Joe/Tim,

Since most people will be using these for the pinpoint mod, is there a way to go ahead and have the machinist hollow out the center and go ahead and drill the holes for the Heyco strain reliefs? Being a machinist, the specs would be much better than most of us trying to hollow out and drill at home.

Good Idea, it may ad to the costs but I will check, sure would be alot easier..do you have a part number so everyone will be on the same page..and a thread type...metric, npt...a supplier, and I'm guessing Part number 4538 Heyco liquid tight? I think that would cover the area of 6.4mm? only problem then would be if one wanted to use the WOT, which is like 1mm larger? I have a couple (Lapp metric's) but would order Heyco to make the whole thing easier if anyone wanted to just get the works, since they are not very expensive. But if we can settle on thread size and all..I will pass that along to Greg when I talk to him. Any suggestions.......on other types... thanks....

Megadiver did you get your Pot for the NY excal?

OBN,

I will by one, just let me know when they are available. All things being equal I would prefer mine made of UHMW if there is a choice

I am not sure about the materials, as a google search revealed the UHMW is subject to UV degradation depending on thickness. The HDPE is rated to have poor UV resistance.

Hi guys I am a seeker of Italian beach, I also use an Excalibur II, I was wondering if you can Append to purchase plugs for headphones with Ikelite for minelab excalibur.

Pigtails ordered, went one size larger for the WOT 7mm cable, will turn over a couple extra to machinist to get quote

Where all stands right now.........dropped off the extra endcap to greg last saturday, he will be getting a quote on making 35 endcaps out of UHMW Polyethylene. 10 solid, 20 with two holes setup for the Heyco 3237 connectors, And 5 Ilelite ready endcaps..these are setup for the female ikelite plugs, you will need the female ikelite connector #4105..I still have to call and get a price on these. Once I get a price and it looks better or worse, I will post to get a opinion....

CARLO7171..These are less the ikelite connectors..setup for them, so you will have to purchase separate..PM me so I can get this right...I will be placing another order next year if this goes well.

And these will not fit the Older Gary Storm Sword Model Excaliburs

Still have to order the O rings, may go with the red Silicon or the OEM Buna-N, any input on this ?

end cap housing o ring- 3mm thick x 32mm ID, 38mm OD

Thanks for the update!

I've got all the other parts sittting in box just waiting for the caps!!:please:

Thanks again!!!!

OBN, put me down for one of the solid end caps! The red silicone are supposed to be better at sealing but worse for constant use, not too sure what "constant use" means. I have the red silicone for the upper O-rings only, so for so good.
