Minelab Excalibur Coil replacement

polarcat550

New member
Hi,,
I bought a used Minelab Excalibur 11 1000 that was barely used but when I got it had to clean it and once I removed the ciol cover ,,sand fell which is normal but the coil though not cracked or pierced had dings and dents,,don't know why go to the trouble of having a coil cover if one is going to abuse the coil. My question: can I replace the coil with a new 10'' one as mine is 10'' or should I just put a clear varnish on the bottom of the coil after I wash it with mild soap.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks polarcart550

You can clean the coil good and then coat it with Marine Epoxy ( thin coat ) then coat it
with truck bed liner and it will look like new. I have it on most of my coils and have no
problem with them. The EPOXY will chip if you bang it on something hard but is easy
to repair. The truck bed liner only makes it look nice and offer's no real protection other
than scuff marks. Both have no effect on how the machine work's but will add a small
amount of weight . Good side of it is, it will keep the coil from wearing through and
you can make small area repair's to it as well as keeping it looking nice.
