Minelab Excalibur 1000 coil feed cable cracked jacket

I have what seems to be a common problem on the Excalibur 1000, cracked outer jacket on the cable to the detector coil. The cable appears to be un-shielded 4 conductor and since my coil is working great I would like to either just replace the cable or splice in a new cable leaving the terminated ends on the electronics and coil intact. This is basically a new detector that sat in storage for years being only used by its previous owner a couple of times.

If I splice in a new cable will there be an impedance or interference issue to good soldered connections, not worried about water intrusion as there is heat shrink with good adhesive lining? Cutting the cable would allow me to install heat shrink over cable where it leaves controls and enters the coil.

Is anyone aware of the type of cable that is used so I could order for the repair?

Really appreciate any help on this issue.

Old Beechnut would be the man to ask. There are many more that can help you with your problem like Mel Parker but I haven't seen him post lately. Do a search for either and send them a PM.
