Minelab Eureka Gold Coil

Why do all the gold machines use a smaller elliptical (assuming Double D) Coil?

What are the advantages of a smaller coil?

Also.. will the minelab explorer XP and sovereign xs coils work on the Eureka Gold ??
 
Coils for the Eureka are only for it......

Smaller coils are so.......it can get into smaller places, under and close to brush, less targets under the coil at any given time.
