Minelab EQUINOX = Unprecedented Anticipation?

Steve hits the nail on the head. He does know the detecting business.

Last night on another location i saw Gordon Heritage of UK say he went on a beach here in the UK i think and tested the 800 . He said that he tested it in multi and other single freq and multi worked for him at 22 sensitivity and 1 of the other freqs worked to but the others on their own didn't work well or at all in the wet .
Thats one thing sorted for me . Just want more info on the battery replacement . There are arguments about here UK ,about whether the battery can be replaced ? That would make it a throw away machine ?

I dont like this waiting , too impatient .

PS , Gordon Heritage is the man on the right when you open the link above .

A $900 disposable metal detector? Are they daft?

Seriously.

This was a response from Minelab on You-Tube, to a guy asking about the battery.

Minelab Metal Detectors

Hi Shane, we'll have more info on battery care and maintenance in the EQUINOX Instruction Manual. Rest assured, this has been tested extensively and is expected to exceed the detector warranty period for typical use. Yes, the battery can be easily replaced. Also, you can plug in a standard USB power bank and run the detector from that while the internal battery is charging. Regards, Minelab.

The deus fans are spewing that disposable crap.

Nuke em, I thought it was interesting what Gordon said about the CTX sensitivity, and how they have cranked it up on the Equinox.

"Any settings over 20 causes falsing anywhere. We’ve pushed to have too much sensitivity this time. I’ve always thought the CTX has not got enough, so this time we get 5 positions over the safe point. 22 on the beach was very usable, with only an occasional false sound (sometimes several minutes apart)."

Nothing surprising about it. I've tried all the "best" out there and without a doubt the E-Trac/CTX is in a class all its own. I've seen thousands of posts that support the same thoughts. The idea of a detector possible of being an E-Trac/CTX only lighter, faster is prompting all the anticipation.

You're totally right about the reason for all the anticipation. That it comes from Minelab is further indication that they could outdo themselves with the Equinox.

I'm getting one asap, and I think you are too. You are a whiz with the Etrac and CTX, so I'm VERY interested to hear from you how the Equinox compares. Even if it matches the etrac/CTX, being so light and waterproof, it will be a huge success. My best guess is that it's aimed at the Deus, and Minelab hopes to have everyone armed with a two-detector arsenal: a CTX and an Equinox.

Did not listen to all of it , just interested in the Equinox bits . I dont get falsing on the ET even at high sensitivity on the beaches in the water unless Iron is about .
Cant wait for the new machine.
Just wondering whether to get 2 or only 1 . The battery issue is the reason . If it wears anyway whether used or not then it might be better to get a second machine when needed and hope i dont need it on the day.

Bugg ... I think it might well be the XP fans spreading crap . The Deus has been at the top of the tree for a long time now , time to shake the branch .

Get two Nuke em! They are so lightweight, you can swing one in each hand. Just think of how much beach you can cover... But then again, how do you wear two sets of headphones?

LOL.
I want toake sure I have one in case. Brach detecting is risky and anything can happen.
Yobs are a risk.

So one to hunt with, and the other for self defense? ...That might void the warranty, but the yobs would stay clear of you after that.:lmfao:

In the Summer months the beaches are pretty productive . I always stay prepared , theres no point in having a machine out of action and missing a good day at the beach .

Easy. Make up a cord to make your left EQ on the left SPKR & the right EQ come out the right SPKR !!

you do no you can run more than one set of headphones thru Bluetooth....put one in one ear and the other in....there you have it 2 detect.,,at one time:cool:

It was amusing to see all the internet experts talking how this was dumb of minelab to undercut it's "CTX and Etrac" with a cheaper machine that performs.. I thought it was the smartest thing they could have ever done to come out with a machine like this. Although there are plenty of folks that buy the CTX it pails in comparison to a high performance machine in this price point.. At almost $2000 for a new CTX that is a hard pill to swallow for most if it performs or not, I think Minelab has figured this out finally that they are missing a big portion of the market. I would be willing to bet if it performs they will make way more profits once their initial investment of the equinox is paid for.

The business model of making something that performs at a cheaper price point is not new, And that is simply something they have done. Now the only question that needs answered in this equation is, Does it perform as advertised? I hope so and am eagerly waiting to find out.

Must admit I have no knowledge of bluetooth. I am old school. Examples are:
Garrett GTA 500 >20 yrs old
1957 WE dial phone
Fisher KX-200 HiFi / stereo tube amp using 7591A outputs, turntable & abt 500 doo-wop 45's
Bedroom set is 1980 Zenith 13" System 3
Den set 1957 Zenith 16" B&W
Just retired my >40 yr old Maytag but replaced it with a Speed Queen. Last of the REAL washers.
Sure wish I had my '72 Olds Toronado back !
