Minelab Equinox 800 Successful Civil War Relic Hunt - Settings

This was only my 3rd hunt with the Minelab Equinox 800. It was an unbelievable day especially since I have hunted these woods to death with every metal detector I have own. Other people have hunted it as well. The Minelab Equinox 800 is a keeper. It is so easy to setup and use. I hope you enjoy the video.

Really nice video. You have a killer location there. I have found with my Eq 800 that it really likes lead. Congrats on recovering all those bullets. HH

Your post led me to believe you were sharing settings. It appears it's a commercial to view your video.

The Minelab Equinox 800 is a keeper. It is so easy to setup and use. I hope you enjoy the video I took that as general commentary about the unit.

I'm sorry you viewed the video as a commercial; it was not intended to be one. I'm still new to making videos and using the Equinox 800. I shared all the setting I was using later in the video. I wanted to make sure the settings were working for me before I shared them. I've watched 1,000's of videos over the years trying to learn the various detectors I've owned and still own so I thought I would share my videos for the same reason; to help others. Once again, please accept my apology if you think I misled you in anyway.

I'm glad you liked the video; I've still got a lot to learn as far as making videos. This was a killer location for me several years ago, but it truly was "hunted out" at least that is what I thought until this particular hunt. This is one of the sites where I have written permission to hunt so I will be going back again. You are right in the fact that the Equinox 800 likes lead. Thanks for the kind words. HH

I don't really understand what you mean by your comment. I meant that I will keep the Equinox 800 vs selling it or trading it later; at least for now. As you can see from my Forum Signature, I've owned a lot of detectors and still have too many. Compared to many of them, the Equinox is very easy to setup. I attempted to show the Equinox in action and shared my settings in hopes that someone struggling with the Equinox may get over some hurdle they may be having with it. I would always want someone to enjoy watching one of my videos rather than feel they wasted time on it. Anyway, I hope this better explains what I was trying to say.

Excellent video and hunt Larry!!! I thought you had a button on your 3rd to the last target when your reading was 13 that would have been spot on for a 2 piece. Your comments about easy to set up and the way it grabs targets are what I have seen as well. Thanks for sharing with us!!!

Equinox best relic machine I have owned. The Etrac and ctx were good machines, but fbs didn’t like mineralized soils or heavy iron infestation. Both things pretty standard at civil war sites generally speaking. I’ve found more bullets buttons, brass and lead relics with the nox in the 5 months I’ve owned it than the 10 years either the Etrac and ctx combined. It’s a relic hunting machine more than a coin shooter in my book. Sure it will find coins just fine, but it shines as a relic machine. I am completely satisfied with my Equinox 800. Congrats on your finds. I’ve found field 2, 2 tone, iron bias 3-4, with ground balance tracking on to be my preferred setup for relic hunting.

thanks for the video and sharing your settings. I am new to hunting CW relics and new to the 800. Seeing your target ID's on the bullets helps me gain confidence that the 800 will pull out the bullets if they are there.
It is a good video technically. I did lots of youtube videos a few years back on a subject matter other than metal detecting. It can be a pain in the butt to get them right and you have spend the time editing them properly plus have a decent camera.
keep up the good work, I learn a lot from these MD forums and MD youtube videos. Back when I started metal detecting in the late 1980's I only had a few magazines on gold prospecting and I don't think there was one on metal detecting or I didn't have one. Seems like the gold magazines back then covered the gold aspects of gold metal detectors. Anyway, so much easier today with good forums and youtube videos. In the future we will be able to rent robots to teach us in the field.
