I took a very short metal detecting trip last Sunday and thought I found a "thick" flat button. Well, after getting back from another short trip today, I decided to use the Andre pencils and a tooth pick to clean it up a little.
Well, it wasn't a flat button after all it was a two piece button. The back mark is: "W WALLIS LONDON GOLD TWIST". As it turns out, it was made in Britain between 1800-1828. A much better find than I thought. By the way, it came from the "Button Field".
Saving Local History is always a worthwhile endeavor.
