Minelab 10 1/2 DD coil can it be made waterproof

How can I make my 10 1/2 DD coil waterproof? i hunt mostly fresh water lakes with my 705 at the shore line to about a foot into the water or less.
Thanks for any help

It's easy Judy. Just run a bead of silicone cauk around everywhere that the coil cover meets the coil to seal that part up, and also around where the cable goes into the grommet as well as where the grommet enters the top of the coil.

The coil is what is termed "water resistant" from the factory. This means that it should be fine for wet grass, the occasional wave splash, and even shallow water. "Waterproof" as defined by the manufacturer means that it can withstand sustained submersion to a depth of 1 meter. The silicone is a good idea just to be sure.
