Minelab 1/8" to 1/4" adapter for Equinox

To use a pair of my favorite wired detecting headphones on the 600 instead of the ones Minelab supplies, is there any reason to use the much higher priced 1/8 to 1/4 inch adapter Minelab makes over a generic one? Thanks for any help.

The part that plugs into the receptacle on the pod has to be longer than the usual adapter would provide. It is a specialty part, not generic.

Or...you can trim the body of a normal one. I did.

Hunting on a regular basis I wiped out several cheapies before the Minelab adaptor was released. Got one of the first ones released and have had no issues since.
