Mine lab Se owner looking to ad another detector any suggestions on which Tesoro???

I have a F75 that I am not too impressed with and am looking for a different detector with a faster response time than my EX SE and yet can still get comparable depth. Most my hunting is coins but I also want something that does well on gold nuggets. So far I think I have narrowed it down to either the Lobo or Cortes. But, then there is also the Tejon????? Decisions, decisions.

do you want another TID or are you willing to forsake that for a "Beep & Dig"?

The F-75 has a very fast response time.
The Tesoro's are fast.
The Tejon is labeled as a relic machine - which I have used some for coin with success.
The Cortes display and display labels is somewhat small for my eyeballs. It doesn't hit as deep as the Tejon.
I haven't tried the Lobo - but IMO would consider the Lobo ST if nuggets is something on want.

I swung a gold picker under the Compadre before todays hunt just for kicks. I got a response but the depth wasn't there.
I might have to swing my setup picker under the Tejon with 5.75 coil, the F-75 with small coil, and a few other machines just for kicks.
I used to have a few gold machines but haven't been gold nugget detecting in awhile. I keep a picker handy when setting up.

I own a Cortes, Euro Sabre, Golden uMax and recently a Tejon. I would highly recomend the Tejon. They are all great light weight machines but the Tejon has dual discrimination feature and it goes deep. I have never hunted for nuggets.

You won't have much luck on nuggets with anything but a gold-specific machine unless the nuggets are big. Very unlikely.

I have a DFX and an SE and just got a Vaquero. It has quickly become my goto machine because of it's light weight, spot-on pinpointing, and easy "thumbed" discrimination adjustment. It gives you about 90% of the target info that an ID machine does. I do miss depth indication but am gradually learning to interpret depth from target signals. In one specific test it outperformed the SE in a depth test on a quarter. I would not say it is deeper than the SE but it was that one time.

I recently purchased a Golden uMAX that a friend had (has over 20 detectors!). It has tone ID on it and as all the other uMAX , it is very light at just over 2 lbs. It also has a variable notch filter that I like. I used it today and was able to filter out a fair number of pull tabs while still being able to hit most nickels. Not perfect but I'm enjoying it at the present. Currently running it with the 5.75 concentric. I don't think this is their deepest machine but I would say it is at least average. What sold me on it was the light weight (compared to my MXT), the variable notch, and the tone ID. Good luck in your search... :detecting:

Having gotten spoiled with the ID of ML, at least tone ID would be a must. I am basically looking for a faster response SE and if the new machine could get approx the same depth or better than the SE, well, that would just be the icing. I am considering a GPX 4000 for gold as I just became a member of the GPAA but 4 GRAND is allot to part with especially since I live 1000 miles from even the smallest nuggets. So for gold purposes, most often I would be looking for gold coins and an occasional nugget on a trip through Georgia. My immediate need is faster ID with good depth, I should check to see which machines they can make a Sun Ray probe for too.

maybe one of the new Fishers? I would think you might want to wait a bit though. Seems that they may have a slight quality control issue.

a minelab X-terra 70, it has a prospect mode feature and is hot on gold with the elliptical 18.75khz coil (10.5") Also great for coins, relics and silver. I use this machine with great success and recomend it to anyone who likes to prospect on the odd ocassion or coin and relic hunt. It wont break your back or your bank. Here is a link that will give you an idea on the prospect mode and what it is capable of. The X-Terra 70 is Hot on small gold, check it out.

Hope this helps.......nothing against Tesoro either they are awsome machines but I thought I might throw a spanner in the works!
Cheers!
