i there every one new to this site can eny one help me on hear ive got a minelab quarto mp hive had it for about 3 months now but always strugle with the pinpointing all the time although have onley used it on the beach in scarbourough meny thanks

I own a Quattro also and pinpointing can be tricky with it using the pinpoint button, Since it has a DD coil I started to pinpoint with it like I did with my Sovereign XS. What I do is use the front and back tips of the search coil. When I find a object I want to dig I will move the search coil towards me until the signal disappears. That means the object is now in front of the coil, I mentally note were that spot is. Then I will lift the coil up and move it foward and swing the coil back towards me until I get the signal again. That means the object is now at the tip of the back of the coil and I menatlly note that. I would then turn 90 degrees and repeat the above process. After doing this you should have the exact location of your object. It sounds like a long process but it takes less then 30 seconds to do this.

Sure no problem. I have a Explorer SE Pro and it has VCO pinpointing which is a lot better then what is on the Quattro, and I have no problems using the pinpoint function on my Explorer. Here is what I do when hunting with the Quattro. I noise cancel often, I noise cancel when I move to different areas of place I am hunting and also when I change settings. Also noise cancel with the coil on the ground. I never run my Quattro in Auto sensitivity, I run it in manual as high I can get it without Quattro falsing. Swing the coil slow, you definitly don't want to swing the coil too fast or you will miss things. This is inherited in all FBS and BBS machines, since you have owned a Sovereign you should have no problems with that. I would suggest purchasing Andy Sabisch's Quattro/Safari handbook, it has a lot of good information in it.

CHEARS JOHN GOOD JOB MATE WHERE ARE YOU FROM IS IT AMERICA IM IN ENGLAND WHY I ASK THIS IS BECAUSE THE SCARBOUROUGH BEACH IS IN ENGLAND NORTH YORKSHIRE ENGLAND IM ALSO THINKING OF GETING EITHER A MINELAB XS OR MINELAB EXPLORER 11 HAVE YOU ENY INPUT IN THE BEST TO GET JOHN MY BROTHER IN SCARBOUROUGH HAS GOT A MINELAB XS CHEARS:clapping:

Yes, I am from the USA, Southwestern Pennsylvania only fresh water beaches around here. I never used an XS or II, only the SE Pro, but what I understand all the different Explorers pretty much have the same features. The Se and the SE Pro can ID a target in pinpoint mode which is the main difference from the XS and II. As for depth they are all about the same. Another thing is that Minelab will not repair the XS and parts for the II are starting to become scarce. That is why I decide to buy an SE Pro and was also able to take advantage of the CTX 3030 hype. If you get an older Explorer you might want to think about purchasing an 11" pro coil or an Detech SEF coil, these coils will perform better then the original coil. You might want to consider this also for your Quattro. The one coil I am thinking about getting for my SE Pro is a Detech 13" Ultimate coil which it is suppose to be able to see through iron better then any of the other FBS coils and also have good target seperation and depth. You can find the different FBS coil field tests here http://www.findmall.com/read.php?19,1055627.

hi there john how ya doing yes Meany thanks for your help on hear yes i was trying to just get iron rejected on the quarto today i was using all metal but i found that if i regected up to 0-3 it would also regect english one and 2 pence copper penneys two i wonderd if you add enny ideas on this john as i am going beach hunting again tomorow and would love to get most of the iron nails rejected thanks nigel my real name:clap:

I am not sure you can do anything, since your newer 1 and 2 pence coins are minted from bronze clad steel, they will hit in the nail range. You should be able to pick up the older bronze 1 and 2 pence coins with out any trouble.
