Mine lab bad service

Serge

New member
I send my Excal.for repair (headphone wire) they received it June 3 and no news since. At the service center in Vegas, they do not answer the phone and they do not call back.
I like the mine lab BBS tech. but i am considering to go back with a more reliable companies. I don't think i deserve that kind of service with all the money i paid for there plastic machine.(excal. Sovereign, xtera705, accessories..)

The hurricane season is on now and i .....

I might use all mine lab's parts to decorate my christmas tree. ( yellow cups with blue and green tubing ...) and under that tree, a Infinium LS or
Beach Hunter

Ouffffffff OK thank you I feel better nowwwwwwwww

I had the same problem when i sent in my excal II and i emailed the company. they where very good after that give it a try.

I just send my Excal in for repair I found they were very nice to deal with.I received a call within a hour of calling them the tech talk me thru my problems and told me to sent it in for repair. They paid the freight. I hope your not looking for it anytime soon as I was told 4 to 6 weeks and more like 6 weeks. Which is what any company says. I just when out and got another one .I won't be with out one. Now I have 10 detector and one in for repairs.

Ohhh Serge,

Be Patient..... Please.......:rage::rant: LOL "Stand in Line" ....... Mines been in since Beginning May.............

I NEVER received ANY Confirmation "What-so -ever" Until I was about ready to Submit a PO Claim... weeks later......

But... a Couple Months later ... I found out that my machine was sent to IL.....

and ....... That's WERE ALL of Em are now being "Stored".. I mean looked at..... or Inspected... or whatever....

one day I called.. and was told that it was on the Bench in Vegas... Waiting to be Looked at......

3 days later............. I was told............ now It's on the Rack / Bnch in IL waiting to be looked at....

Minelab is starting to Su k Arse ....

and I'm a Die-hard Minelab guy.... Not anymore......

Did I mention that this was the 3rd time it was being sent in for the EXACT SAME ISSUE... They Suk

I'm Loyal To "My Pocket" not any brand..... Name em ....shame em !!!!

The Excal is an Awesome machine... But how many times do we need to send them in for Repairs? Come on....

You can look at it this way...Even if you gave somebody with another machine a 6 week head start to find some goodies you'll still beat them when you get your Sovereign back. Yea, that's a stretch. A friend recently had two bad DFX units. They even sent him a new chip to install himself and the unit still didn't work well. He ended up getting an SE. He re-gridded a virgin site and I think he said his silver finds went up 3 times or something. Meaning, the DFX missed a bunch of keepers.

Well I really wanted to try this soveriegn GT but if mine lab can't keep up with their repairs that means that there's alot of them being sent in, then its back to my old reliable whites and their service in which I never had to wait two weeks to get mine back Mine lab if you are reading this ,if you can guarantee personally this machine in writing to send in any repair w/ paid postage or send me a new one to replace the defected machine Then I will buy this machine

I did follow your advice and went over the service department. IT WORK !!!! Same day i talk with the manager, they did the repair, the send via UPS 2 days delivery and they call me back for tracking#.
It was past 2 month since they received it and now every thing is ready in 1 day. If you don't put pressure, you wait.

I am going to put a chair by the mail box and wait for UPS

Look like they have good willing but overload make them look bad sometime.

Thank you guys and don't call me in the next few days, i will be busy.

I sent my Minelab Excalibur II in for repair to the Las Vegas facility on June 18th.

45 days later, I'm still waiting for it to be repaired.

This is the 3rd time in less than 18 months that I've had to send it in for repairs.

First time I sent it in, I bought a Whites Beach Hunter 300 ID as a backup machine to use until I got the Excalibur back.

I had to send the BeachHunter in for repair on June 22th this year. Received it back just 10 days later. Fully repaired, no charge.

I prefer the Minelab over the Whites, but with the Minelab in the shop so much, I can't rely on it as my only detector.

This is why I haven't sent my Excal in! All I need to do is verify my seals-I replaced them but now am a little paranoid that I might have another leak later. So far I'm doing just fine but between the posts of poor service, and not finding much (I try to fund my hobby with my finds), I haven't been in a real hurry to send it off. I'm gonna wait till the dead of winter when I'll only be using my land detector!

Ahh...Growing pains, combined with cheap foreign labor. Ya get what you pay for. Considering the hefty price tag, maybe some more American labor could fix their problems, and more American Craftsmanship in the construction Dept. as well. Just my 2 cents...:yo:

Best post I've seen in a looooong time :super:

I've had the same Problems with my Excalibur 1000 for the 3 rd time in under 1 yr...
First time... they replaced just about EVERYTHING.......

Battery,Battery Pod, Coil, PCB Board, Seals, Pots, Knobs.

I paid the $36 to ship to them.... It took 3 Months before I got it back from them.....

When I got it back... I noticed that There was a "Cold" Solder joint... But let it go for a couple of weeks... Then It Broke again.............

Shipped it back to them..................

$36.00.............................

They fixed the Solder Joint... Where was the ***Quality Control***

after a couple of months.....

Same issues happened all over again.....

$36.00 to ship it back to them again..

I sent it in 3 months ago.... just got the call that it's on it way home again.....

If your going to invest in "Water Hunting " With an Excalibur......... I suggest that you buy 2 of em.... Because you'll be rotating them back and fourth for repairs......

Buy the Way..... Keep a Hot glue Gun handy........... this way you can Glue the Headphones in place.......... BECAUSE THEY WILL STRIP OUT ON YOU..... " Without- Question"

My hunting buddy sent in Both of his Before I was having issues with mine..... We "Have 4 Excals" between the 2 of us....We each own 2... ... This way we always have a Spare with us....AT ALL TIMES..

so that when we travel 3 hrs to our hunting grounds.. and One of Our machines goes down.... we're not out of all the money for the trip....

Hotels, gas, food, entertainment, etc...

When He got them Back............ ONLY one works............... He's been waiting for mine to get back.. so that he can send his Back into minelab...............

WHERE's THE QUALITY CONTROL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now were thinking of Selling off ALL Of the EXCALs and just Buying AQUASOUNDS..................

I think it is 3 years on all Minelab except the Excalibur which has the 2 year, or 1 year. I dont have my info here right now, but remember reading something on this in a Minelab newsletter I got.

These are newsletter the dealers get right from Minelab

Well said. I just saw something on TV about the illegal aliens taking American jobs. You know how some people say they are just doing the jobs nobody else will? They made a good point when they said tell that to a coal miner in WV. Those are hard dirty jobs but they've kept illegals out, which means they still make a good living. On the other hand you used to be able to make a good living hanging dry wall. A large percentage of dry wall workers are illegals these days and as a result the wages are real low.

The answer there is dont do business with people who hire foreigners.

But back to the post.

A friend of mine hired some illegals to do the drywall on a new house he was building. He wasn't around to watch the work and as a result I guess they put the spackle on too fast and too thick because about a month later he started getting cracks all over the place. Not only that but they stole about 50 gallons of gasoline. He's kind of a penny pincher so I just laughed and told him it serves him right for trying to get cheap illegal labor. I'm sure by the time he paid for the gas and got the drywall fixed it ended up costing him more than if he would have just hired somebody respectful in the first place.

The answer is they need to start hammering any business who hires illegals with a heavy fine. Once they start doing that the problem will mostly go away as there will be no point to crossing the border for the majority of them. Unlike the stimulus that would open up millions of new jobs for citizens and also cause the pay scale to go up. The border still will need to be secured because of the drug trade and potential terrorists but it will stop many of them.

What gets me is the talk of giving the illegals citizenship. Why should they be able to get in line in front of people trying to follow the rules and become a citizen the legal way. Also, I've heard enough horror stories of people getting in car accidents with illegals who had no insurance, or people who can't even sleep in their own homes because they are so close to the border. I say stick a few of those politicians down there and make them spend a few nights living in fear of a break in and things would probably change real quick.

Of course none of this has anything to do with Minelab I guess, so I'm done now...
