Mind if I brag a little?

My daughter, Sarah, has always had the ability to write. She aced honors English in high school and I urged her to pursue a degree in photo-journalism because of her interest in photography. She was talked out of journalism by her professors and ended up graduating with a degree in photography. Back in January I accepted an advertising sales position with a small local newspaper. They understood our situation with Brian and I can do most of my work from home allowing me to take care of him during the day. Sarah had picked up a copy of the newspaper and said "I can write better than most of those writers!" I suggested she pick a subject and write a story and submit it to the paper. Well, I was amazed at how well she wrote and her article was accepted by the paper and to our surprise was printed on the front page of this weeks paper!

The managing editor told me that she wants to sit down with Sarah and show her the AP style of newspaper writing and hopes she will submit an article weekly!

The on-line version is here: http://www.theknoxvillejournal.com/news/2010/slickest-way-to-ruin-the-summer.html

They also asked Brian if he would like to write a weekly article for the paper about his daily battles with his disease. They are going to pay him $10 per article. Today he started his first article with a little help from his home-bound teacher and hopefully it will be ready for next weeks edition of the paper.

Thanks for letting me brag on my kids a little!

Last Monday Carol was off work for Memorial Day so I got up early and drove to Cades Cove. It rained from the moment I left until about thirty minutes before I needed to head home. When the rain stopped the Lord blessed me with some beautiful scenery. This is one of the pics.

Thanks Doug for Sarah's story and it is very good and you have the bragging rights for your two and you just brag about them any time and post us the articles on what both write and is printed in the newspaper! I couldn't be more pleased with Sarah and, also, Brian, who will with a little help be able to write stories about his own health problems and leaning on Jesus for strength in His joy to keep on going by faith until it is time for him to go home to his Heavenly Home....a bright Mansion in Glory!

Thank you for the beautiful pic taken of God's glorious creation of breathtaking scenery! May God Bless each of you! Amen! Ma Betty

I love to go to cades cove when it's not so crowded. It can be very peaceful. My hubby tells everyone that we once went to Caves Cove and I was driving and got lost in there :surprised: I guess I kind of did even thought it was a one way road lol lol. We do down that was pretty often. We like to go to Cherokee too.

Very cool to you all! Congrats. Be sure to post the links weekly to their articles.
Totally awesome pic my friend!
