Militia Buckle

Well-known member
This was a Militia Buckle known as the Star of Stars dating up to about 1835 and was used by Union Army. My friend found it with an Etrac detector almost a foot in the ground at a city park in Cincinnati. I researched the park and they had a battery located there for two years during the war overlooking the Ohio River watching for Confederates. The buckle is copper and in good condition and never cleaned. The funny part of it was the large star had 20 points on it and was said to represent the state of Mississippi, of coarse it was made before the war. We have only been back to the park once and found a few mercury dimes but no more relics yet.
