Military Ring

Took the Tiger Shark for a swim to cool it down. It was so happy for that it found me this ring. I don't know what military branch it is from. Maybe someone can help me. It took almost a week to clean it. It was incrusted in stone. Must have been in the water for many years. After cleaning it I seen something funny about it. The top swivels to the side. I could not tell if there was a picture in the frame or what. It is silver. Any help with what it is would be great... KEN

That's sure is an interesting looking ring. I bet it was for a picture.

Wow, that's a really neat find!

That is the most unique ring I have ever seen.

The water hole I got it out of is a Boy Scout Camp. I have been hunting this place for many years. When I first started to hunt it, I found hand fulls of silver and other rings. This last week I was hunting the same beach and went to the side where no one swims any more. Guess I will be looking their a little more... KEN

5R - WWII HINGED SWEETHEART LOCKET RING NATIONAL EMBLEM One of the neatest patriotic - military rings sold during WWII. This one features the National Emblem on the hinged cover plate, which rotates, revealing a small cavity for photo. This type of ring was fairly inexpensive and popular, and it also could be found with insignia of all the services. This ring is in excellent condition, showing some minor use or handling. It is stamped "STERLING" and "PAT PEND" inside. Approximate size is 12. Very special. $95

Thank you Scanman.. Now I know for sure what it is. Being in the water for so long, the picture inside is going. The size on this ring is size11. Thanks again. I just knew that someone here would know what I had... KEN

Not sure how I missed this post but anyways, that's a pretty cool ring!

I was laying in bed last night thinking of how I could possibly dredge a beach underwater for coins and jewelry WITHOUT paying the big bucks for a portable floating dredge...(just thinking out loud)......

I did think of the shop vac as I have an inverter for my PU already. Never used a shop vac on water before and really not sure how a guy could set one up. Maybe for sheets & giggles I might ask over on the prospector forum. If nothing else, an electric vac may not be regulated like say a 3" dredge with gas motor...?????

sorry for the hi-jack.........
