military button and large bullet 50 Cal?

Found large bullet marked DM 43 and Large Military Button waterbury Cuvile @ MFG. Co.. The casing is 4 inches long. It is huge. Ny ideas would help

Not sure what you have but I don't think its 50 cal. . . . using your ruler as a guide it looks like the slug would have been a little more than 5/8" diameter, rather than 1/2". Also, I have a 50 cal. dummy round picked up at an air show and the proportions of yours don't look quite right. Look at the example on the website linked by tvr . . . see how the portion above the shoulder is longer than it is wide? In yours that length is about the same as the width. My first thought was something like 20mm but it seems more like 16-17mm or so (50 cal. is about 12.7mm). :shrug:

Better call the ATF. That person must have a cannon.
 
First off, that is a cartridge case, not a bullet, and it looks exactly like the ,50 cals I find on the local desert, which was a gunnery range during WarII. I've also found a 20mm case, which is much larger.
