Might be in the market for a new detector...

A neighbor came over and borrowed my XLT to find an old barb wire fence. That has been over five weeks ago and he hasn't brought it back and he has been dodging me like I have a bad disease or something. I have a feeling he has had an accident with it or something and is afraid I will make him pay for it. If so, he's right, I will! I figure if someone wants to borrow something they should be willing to be responsible for it. I'm going to give him till this coming Sunday as that will be six weeks, if he hasn't brought it back by then I'll have to pay him a serious visit. I don't get to detect much anymore but I couldn't stand to be without a good detector, kinda like going without underwear, just don't feel right. So, do you folks think I should stick with a new XLT, or upgrade? and what do you think I should charge him for the XLT (if it comes to that) as it is about eleven years old?

I offered to, but he insisted on doing it himself. I even spent about an hour or so showing him how to operate it. He probably had something else to look for that he didn't want me to know about.

... if you had to replace a machine that was 100% in good working order that you know how it was used / not abused .... I'd say you ought to be paid for what a used machine with warranty remaining would cost you on E-bay. That would be fair to you both.

When we used to rent metal detectors we got $30 to $45 per day depending on the machine and how much training we had to do and to check out the machine when going out and then back in.

Good luck to you in getting your machine back.

Going without your XLT is akin to going without sex (my own personal opinion). It should be against the law. I don't beleive the wives would believe that.

neighbour ! Probably ran over it with his truck or it was stolen. Anyway you shake it, the guy's a bum.

I use a very fast and short response when someone wants to borrow a power or specialty tool ..NO ! Hurt feelings ? too bad; shouldn't have asked in the first place.

Good luck and hope you get back out hunting.

Give me a call, I'm out of work right now and am thinking of becoming a repo man..flex...flex :punch:
