[/img] Glad to get out today nice and cool.Been hunting the midway still have 50 yards left on this one there are 5 strips here lots left to check out. Some coins were so mask that all I could get was a high signal one way and not that good sounding as I removed the plug the signal would scream at me the plugs had pull tabs bottle caps nails you name it. the #s were all over and I was mainly hunting by sound.the barber dime was 6 inches deep and when I went to pinpoint it I got a foot long signal but as I sweeped it it separated the dime from the 8 inch nail I would have never got this dime with the stock coil. the 6 inch coil is a trash king and that's all I use at the fairgrounds all there is is trash. 1916 buff came in at a solid 12.13 I new before I dug it was going to be a nickel 4 older Jefferson's about a dozen wheat's oldest 1912 merc's 1918s 1941 Roosevelt 1957 d barber 1900s and lots of cheap rings today. One thing I should mention is there is so much trash here that #s do not me to much but if the cursor is trying to fill at the 40 to 43 mark that almost confirms me into digging.Sound is the way to hunt in heavy trash if you get a high signal try to separate it from the other signals and watch the screen to see if the #s fill in at the 40 to 43 mark two times today I had high tone move about 4 inches from where I though the target was so I would sweep the high tone and mark the spot and dig the plug and then it would scream good at me there would be trash in the plug witch would pull me from the gone tone to a bad tone so pay attention to that high. I proved over and over to my self that the stock coil is not cut out for this type of hunting. I always hunt open screen ferrous coin combine tried the stock pattern with disc and in this much trash the signals would get clipped and some would not sound at all because the crap in the ground would trash the signal so much that you would not here it, clipped signals are the way I tell nails and other iron the high is clipped at the end and on a coin signal the sound is a gradual tapering away that's what you have to train your ears for anyway hope you got out today.sube

Nice finds and nice tips on hunting under these conditions. I've recently been hunting some older grounds that are just continuous nulling due to the iron and your thoughts are exactly what I need to keep in mind in order to be more successful in these areas. Good luck on the next round!

Great work Sube! Way to stick it out.
