Meter readings with smaller than stock coil....

Jeff Beecham

New member
Do you find that your meter reads the same
when using a smaller than stock coil....
In other words; if a nickel reads centered
on nickel with the 9.5" will it read maybe
past the word nickel when using a 5.3??

Thanks, Jeff

Jeff, With my XLPro and 3 of my accessory coils, the target ID of a silver dime reads the same on the 350 Shooter, 5.3 Bullseye and the 950 stock. A silver quarter read the same on all three coils. And, so did a silver half. I think you should find that a specific target will read pretty much the same, regardless of the coil, for target ID. But, I have found that the XLPro depth indicator seems to be tuned to the stock 950 coil. In other words, the depth readings are not as accurate with the accessory coils. Seems the smaller the coil, the less accurate the reading. HH Randy

Same with my 6000 Di Pro, smaller coil, less accurate depth reading. Not a concern as far I feel. ID for coins is good. For the deep targets barely heard, watch for a positive (upward) needle twitch, sometimes pays off.
