Meteorites

Hi Guys,
This is my first posting on this forum. I am in Australia and would like to ask a question on Meteorites. I have one which is giving me a vdi of -93-94 in the meteorite program with the v3. Can you guys tell me do all meteorites give the same number.

I can't answer that one for sure but I would really doubt it since their several different types of Meteorites. I know there are some meteorite hunters who might chime in. Rob

Everyone I have tested hits -93 -94. Not sure if all do though. Also they do not register on pinpoint. have tested Iron/nickle and mostly stony ones. I know the v3 is very sensitive to them. I have a .46 gram chunk of stony meteorite from the recent fall in Wisconsin. A Very small piece and it hits on it. My meteorite program has all locked out except -93 and -94 then also run in mixed mode.

What's strange then is the factory meteorite program for the V3 accepts only -95 to 0 and the V3i program accepts only -75 to 0. Rob

I don't know. My point was if all the meteorites were hitting - 94 to - 93 you would think they wouldn't be accepting all the way to zero. After all if I was setting up a program to hunt dimes I wouldn't accept 0 to +95. I don't hunt meteorites but I have watched a few videos and know they are not all the same size or composition. I question was do they are read -94 to -93. Rob

Hi Cheesehead2,
Have tried it in pinpoint and it gives no sound but the pinpoint signal strength does move in the 3 frequency. I will have to take it to some body that can identify it. A magnet does stick to it and looking at sites with photos it looks pretty promising. Thanks to all the other guys for their help.
