Meteorite find

kickback

New member
I was detecting a big open area yesterday where a school used to be.I got a repeatable high tone and dug a small, gray colored on the outside, rock.It is much heavier than it should be for it's size.I compared it to the 9 1/2 pound meteorite my neighbors found and it appears to be the same composition.Their's was checked out by a meteorite hunter and he confirmed it was a meteorite piece, not hot rock. This is the second one I have found,The first was a piece, half the size of my fist.I found both with my CZ 70.Bill

Usually your local college can determine if and what it is. Some of these are worth bucks so surely worth the effort. Unusual but nice find for sure and would make my day...

It did make my day.I'll have to take the 2 specimens to a college and have them checked out.If it gets above freezing I have one spot that has given up some silver dimes and wheaties lately.I'm going to go hunt that with the CZ.Bill
