metal Disney characters

Got these at a yard sale. They are approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the base of the figure to top and not sure what kind of metal. Found many varieties of metal Winnie the Pooh charms with connecting loops on the head but can't find any figures with the slotted bottom part like these. The slotted part is about 1/2 inch and curious to know it's purpose.

Perhaps they fit into a slot in a music box and rotated. Maybe not all at once, but interchangeable. You might have a real good find there.

Thanks Dave, it's the only suggestion I've heard but it definitely sounds possible.

Maybe try to find a Disney collectors group. Folks there might know more.
I looked a while for anything Disney cast metal figurines, etc. and no dice.

Turns out these characters were the handle for a bell made in the 80's. A clapper was tied to the slot.

Well now theres another mystery!...What happened to all the bells? They are cool though! Maybe go ahead and make a hood ornament or sweet drawer pull or hat rack or something!

have a bunch of these made out of lead think they came out of a toy where you melted down wheel weights in the 50's into dyes/forms .
