Metal Detector

I think it's amazing how fast people sell there metal detectors. In a span of 21 days people tell how great there machine is then sell it. say not for them and get the next great machine.I have had four machines in my 9 years of hunting and still own 3 of them.Do your research before you buy a machine not after. Here's a toast to the next best machine.

I think some people look at a detector purchase much like the way some buy magic diet pills. You know, lose weight without exercising or modifying your diet. Just take a pill a couple times a day and watch the fat roll off of your body. I believe that some people think that it is the machine that makes these fantastic discoveries with little knowledge or skill of the user, all they have to do is find the right detector and wave it over the ground......

I know, I expect a lot of flak because there are a lot of other reasons people do this, but I have been reading these posts for over twelve years and I have seen a lot of users come and go.

Yep, I still have my first detector, whites 6000 di pro sl. I sold a Garret GTA 1000 to buy a Tesoro Bandido ll

aren't you happy they feel that way ..larry?..amounts to a "ton" of sales for you!
the "smart play " is to LEARN the detector!..save yourself some "scratch!"
just sayin!

Many of us are on the quest for that extra inch or two that is advertized ...shoot it's like Golf clubs and the hype about taking one two and even three strokes off your game.. Of course you guys are right..learn the one you have, and unless something is light years better then your gonna do better working with one rather than many..... BUT DARN.I'm waiting for that next one from Fisher LOL Hahahahahahahahh

That's what makes him such a great Dealer, and all around nice guy. He puts the Hobby before the dollar.. Isn't that refreshing ??
I know you was only ragging on him a little that's why I posted this ...ragging on you a little Hahahahahhahahah LOL..Not serious about anything towards your post at all..But he is really a nice guy and a top dealer too.......... and your one of our best posters too.

I don't mind the rib poking, I can dish it right back at ya....... I was speaking as a fellow hunter only, I gave the dealership up last year, the bottom line was just not there for the time invested. Thanks for the Kudos anyway.

:canadaflag:After wanting a metal detector for 35 years I found this forum and started reading and I noticed the trend that I call the "detector mill" . I did not want to join this group of ever searching for the perfect detector. I would say that the Internet has really made the research of a detector so much easier as you can interact with users of all machines. I found a used detector that if it did not work out I would be able to sell with out a loss. Had to be light weight and easy on batteries. After the first year I am still learning and know that there is even more to learn about this detectors language. I admit that over the winter I wanted to trade for a different machine but instead I got a DD coil and a Pro pin-pointer and this has kept me off the "detector mill." I have had my best hunts this spring with my first 1800's coin, lots of silver coins and my first gold ring. Had I traded I would be learning a new machine in stead of honing my skills and digging good targets on what is now my old faith full and I am focusing on what it can do if I take the time to learn , instead of focusing on the limitations of the detector.
Lots of great detectors out there but learning them takes time.
These are the attributes that I will never be tired of, light weight, 9 volt battery, warranty, and resale value of this detector.

You have to be talking about the Tesoro's...... nice little units and probably the most fun for the buck on the market.

elton!..i was just kidding!..it wasn't a personal attack at all!..
you was right!..just sayin!

Originally I listed the make and model but then removed them as I did not want make this about a brand as I believe that there are lots of great detectors out there and if you like the basics like weight, balance, ease of operation warranty and price, then you are going to want to be out swinging that machine and learning its language and only then will you get proficient . Oh ya being able to have a large choice of coils available to meet hunting needs was key. In doing my research I noticed one guy that used and older, 15+ years and not the same make as mine , basic swing beep detector and he was consistently having good hunts so I realized that if I choose smartly then my detector was going to be with me for a long time and my skill level wood only increase giving me better hunts.

I saw the humor.

Well I can only speak for myself, I had bought a great land detector, when the plan was to buy a water detector. I couldn't pass up the deal I got for this particular detector and I came to really like the detector I bought. But I can only afford one at the moment, the desire for me to be in the water overcame me and I traded my current land detector of a month old in for the water detector. Luckily I still have my ACE 250 that I will continue to use on land until I can afford to re-purchase the detector I traded away. May be a stupid move in some people's eyes but I just gotta get out in the water!! :heh:

I had a DFX and Xl Pro for several years. Loved the XL Pro! But both detectors just got too heavy to swing for this old man. I have heart trouble and just don't have the steam i use too. So I shopped around for the lightest detectors with the best feed back.
I now have tesoro's and love them. they'll be the last detectors I own until I am carried out feet first:goodnight:

larry!
what i said COULD have been interpreted either way,and i realize this!
i am pleased that you interpreted what i said in the way it was intended
my apologies if you still feel insulted...to reiterate,it was meant to be conveyed in a "humorous" way.
just sayin!

me too elton!....can't help but be tempted, however temptation "usually"
turns to "practicality" upon viewing the "hefty" price tags for these "indulgences"
i'm waiting though!..gotta be honest, and "spring has sprung"..so to speak!
just sayin!
