metal detector Tweaking ?

Waterdog

Well-known member
Several years ago I was into CB radio. I bought a top of the line radio brand new and was ready to install it into my truck. Right after I bought it the guy at the store asked me "did you want to have that radio peeked and tweaked ?" I told him no and proceeded to be on my way.
After a couple of weeks of talking on the radio I did finally have another guy peak and tweak my radio and it made a huge difference. While I was there having the work done to my radio he told me that the company that makes the products get them in the ball park and sent them out. Having them fined tuned makes all the difference. Could a metal detector be fine tuned also ?

The older machine which had analog circuits had some internat pots which could be tuned up to make them hotter or more sensitive, or just better tuned to the specifics of the installed coil but in the newer all digital ones almost everything is done in software instead of analog circuits so there is a lot less tweakable stuff unless you have the software source code and the ability to recode some of the stuff then compile a new build and transfer it to the eprom chips in the detector. However I guess it would really come down to the specific design of whatever machine you are interested.

They advance things ( cars for one) to the point you can not work on things like you did in the old days
