Metal Detector Selection for iron

You know most discussion on most all detector forums is on how to find small nonferrous targets. whenever I approach the subject on cache hunting and metal detector selection, I usually get the deer stare in the headlights. I do not relic hunt, however I believe you folks are the only ones looking for ferrous objects as well as non ferrous and your artifacts may be larger than a coin size object. Therefore I believe you are a better qualified group to ask which detector do you prefer when searching for both metals and of differing sizes. Usually cache hunting you find yourself wanting to find iron, the size being 3" wide and larger. As many select there detector that will be hot on gold or silver, the cache hunter wants a detector that can "see beneath the soil" has a large coil over 12" to choose from. Here is my understanding on what would constitute a "great cache hunting detector and then I'd like your opinion. Garrett GTI2500 with either the 11x14 non imaging loop or 12.5 imaging loop, Nautilus with the 15" loop, Minelab GP4500 with a 18" mono loop, Eric Fosters Goldscan with a 18" coiltek loop. Did I miss anything. I know a good 2 box will be a tool not to master for certain applications nor a magnetometer. And I also realize most any detector will find metal. However what detectors are great in bad ground, have a large loop to connect to and can read iron well. Have never been able to enjoy the Sovereigns all metal signal sound. And let me end that I do love true all metal non motion like the Garrett CX3. Now its your turn to speak. Thanks.

Minelab's GP's will get extreme depth. That's why most professional nugget hunters use them. They wouldn't spend that kind of money if they didn't perform. It's what my gold guides in Australia provide all of our clients. They even include a pre-hunt class on how to use them.
