man i wish i could help you with this one but since 9 11 there may be . id call the sec. in charge and just ask them, i wouldnt think there would be a problem but as i said since 9 /11 alot has changed
I e-mailed Delta and Continental and their response were the same... TSA has the authority and they have a list of banned items. I e-mail the TSA 3 times and they said to check their web site for the list and info. The 4th time I pressed them and finally got "it was up to the airline screeners, they have the final say" I'm a little nervous I have to carry mine on board, I'm flying 2 different airlines with a very short layover.
Would like to hear about any one's experiences.
Thanks
Haven't done it yet myself but it's something I really want to do on some of my business trips. When I travel I carry my laptop with me all of the time. Every time I go through the checkpoint they ask me to take it out of the bag and turn it on. When they see it light up they are satisfied. My guess it would be very much the same with a metal detector. Because it is an electronic device they may ask you to turn it on. If I were going to take my detector on a flight as carry on I would probably have my wife or one of my kids (I travel alone) wait nearby so they could take it if I were denied. It's a tough call especially if it's up to the TSA screener. If it were in a hard body case it would be no problem checking it in as luggage...but then you run the risk of it getting lost. I would be very interested to hear what you do and how it turned out. Wish I could be more help.
