CTTodd and I didn't end up finding what we were looking for in the field but we did make a lot of new friends. They were sniffing my headphones as I was walking and trying to help me pinpoint the few targets I dug up.. Our destination was a religious society that had a house of worship in the area during the 18th century. All of my research indicated that we should have came up with something but nada.. Now I will have to hit the books harder to see what went wrong.
Todd and I both found that the electrical fences surrounding the farm interfered with the CTX for hundreds of feet. So far I have not found a way to eliminate it since the signal from the fence causes blips to appear on the screen with an audible output too and they are ALL over the screen so it isn't like you can just knock them out with discrimination.

Dark browns and bays with leather halters and brass name plates and wearing flymasks---you were detecting in an equine country club! :)

You know your horses.. I was saying I was surrounded by a million dollars of horses... Todd counted 22

It was different. It was fun

Detecting around horses is like detecting around a whole class of kindergarteners. They love to crowd your space trying to see what you are doing. It is funny, sometime they will try and help dig. Just be careful around them (horses, not kindergarteners), it is easy to get nocked over, stepped on, bitten, trampled etc... I really like finding horse shoes for people.

Hmmm, interesting about the electric fence interference. My detecting buddy and I have detected a cow pasture with an electric surrounding it several times without any interference problems, and yes the fence was turned on because I was bitten by it a couple of times. I've used both my CTX and E-trac in the pasture and they both worked great (using the stock/pro coils). Oh and yes the cows were very curious and friendly. They consistently tried to lick us and chew on our cloths. I think it was because of the sweat/salt.
