Metal Detecting while on a cruise

Hello All My Metal Detecting Friends,
I need an answer quickly, sorry I have not ask sooner!
My wife, daughter and I are going on a Caribbean cruise in less than a week and and they are planning to spend a lot of time on the beach. BORING!! Are you allowed to take a metal detector aboard a cruise ship? Also are you allowed to M/detect on the islands? We will be going as far south as Barbados.
Your Friend,

When my family went on a cruise to the Bahamah's I took mine. I found two rings! I certainly would take it.

I wouldn't think the ship would mind. Just check the local laws.

There were several articles on this in old backissues of W&ET. THe gist of it is check the laws ahead of time, the rulings from the cruise line and have fun.

I assume that it would be a part of your luggage.
Heard a report about a fellow that just metal detects for a living. He parked himself in the Caribbean for six months a few years back, and pulled up six figure income in that time. I guess that they don't sell metal detectors in that part of the world.
Let us know how you get on and let's see if your finds will corroborate what I heard.
Good luck.
Mick Evans.
P.S. I don't know what part of the Caribbean he was in.

Far as I know the ships have no restrictions as it is part of your luggage. Most resort and tourist areas have no restrictions. Just check with officials ahead of time.

Bill
