Metal Detecting w/Prosthetic Leg

Dogblues

New member
I am thinking about getting into the hobby of metal detecting. I had one as a kid and loved it, but somehow lost interest. Now, I'm much older, and have a below the knee prosthetic leg filled with titanium and aluminum at the bottom, at least 3-4 pounds.

I am very active, I do things most people don't do with two legs, so the physicality isn't even an issue. But, with this large chunk of metal right at ground level, is it gonna be such a problem the fun will be gone? Can I purchase a unit that can be set to discriminate? Any modifications that can be made?

Would love to hear any and all advise, pro's and con's, any specific brands or models that may be better.

I live in Nevada, so naturally gold detecting is on my list. But also, I am a certified diver, so beaches and underwater detecting is of interest too.
